Toilet Fill Valve Replacement

Recently, the water level in our toilet has been too low, and when flushing, the water doesn’t go down smoothly as if the pipes are clogged. This issue has been left unresolved for over six months. While lying on the sofa, I suddenly decided to search the symptoms online and discovered something about a part called the fill valve. I was convinced that replacing this part would fix the problem. 😊

I immediately ordered the part online and, as soon as it arrived, I proceeded with the replacement.

Let’s take a look at the replacement process. :)

1.

Turn the valve indicated by the blue circle clockwise to shut off the water supply. The pipe indicated by the red circle is connected to the toilet; unscrew it by turning it counterclockwise. (It can usually be loosened by hand without tools.)

2. Next, flush the toilet once using the lever to empty the water.

3. To remove the fill valve, you need to loosen the nut marked with a red circle. A 27mm socket is required, but unfortunately, I only had a short 27mm socket available, so I couldn’t use the tool. Instead, I had to remove the part marked with a blue circle to hold the nut with my left hand and turn the fill valve body with my right hand to remove it. (Next time, I’ll definitely make sure to have a 27mm long socket ready!)

4. Replacement Completed Photo: The exact reason isn't clear, but the part visible in the blue circle should be filled with water adequately. It seems that due to the malfunction of the fill valve, water wasn't entering properly, causing the toilet water level to remain low.

5.  too short 27mm socket. ㅠㅠ

Ah....  Unfortunately... Just as I proudly told my wife, “I finally fixed the toilet!!!” she replied, “It looks like we need to replace the fill valve in the bathroom in the master bedroom as well…”
